Student Financial Success Starts with Students: Why CampusLogic Acquired RaiseMe

Since launching our first product six years ago, CampusLogic has been striving to make student financial success a reality. What this means for us is ensuring that students have the financial tools, information, and resources required to enroll, persist, and complete their degree without over-borrowing. We have come to see that when institutions also believe and invest in this mission, it’s as successful for them as it is for their students. Colleges and universities realize higher enrollment, engagement, and retention as a result.

There has never been a more important time to prioritize student financial success. The pandemic and nationwide protests have cast a spotlight on inequality in our country. Now is the time for schools to commit to having more diverse classes, actively recruiting from disadvantaged communities, and doing whatever they can to help those who have been underrepresented in higher education.

CampusLogic is driven to develop products that work toward these goals. Each one helps students along the financial success journey, from informing students about the true cost of college (ClearCost) to helping them fund last-minute expenses (SponsoredScholar), so that every student, no matter their background, can get the education they want and deserve.

Introducing RaiseMe

As I’ve sought to spread our vision of ensuring financial success for every student, one company always stood out as a key ally to our cause: RaiseMe. RaiseMe's mission is to expand access to higher education with the opportunity to earn micro-scholarships throughout high school. Waiting until the end of high school to start thinking about funding college is often too late, especially for low-income and first-generation students. Micro-scholarships can be earned through the RaiseMe app starting as early as 9th grade. Students literally earn money for college by doing all the things that best prepare them to succeed, like getting good grades, volunteering in the community, or joining an extracurricular activity.

I’m so excited to announce that RaiseMe is now officially part of the CampusLogic family. This acquisition helps us assist more students with their financial future, and it provides colleges and universities an additional opportunity to shape their enrollment.

Schools that use RaiseMe have a unique tool to reach students early in the recruitment process, creating a connection with them well before they set foot on campus. Schools decide what achievements they want to award and how much they will award to students who meet their eligibility requirements. For example, one college might offer $50 for an A in Algebra, another might offer $300, and so on.

A Change in Perspective

Think about this opportunity from the eyes of a 16-year-old, first-generation, low-income student. She grew up believing she would never be able to attend college because her family couldn’t afford it. After joining RaiseMe, she can see that multiple universities are willing to offer her $1000 for each A she receives. She can see that YOUR school values her. That you believe she can be successful there and out in the workforce. That you are willing to invest in her success. And your school has the power to nurture that relationship, encourage her to take actions that prepare her for college, communicate with her, and in turn, shape your incoming student body in a way that hasn’t been possible.

Whether your institution is large and well-known, or small and private, that student has visibility they didn’t have previously. Knowing that they are guaranteed a certain amount of money from a school can greatly increase the likelihood that each RaiseMe-equipped student will apply, enroll, and graduate.

As we journey forward in this whirlwind of a year, my hope is that we are all taking steps to make higher education more accessible and equitable. CampusLogic and RaiseMe together, are fully committed to helping schools fulfill this timely and important mission.
