Shout-out to Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU), recently selected as one of five Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) to participate in the inaugural HBCU Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Initiative.
HBCU Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Initiative
Developed by Delta Regional Authority (DRA) and Allen Entrepreneurial Institute, the HBCU Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Initiative will help HBCUs and their student populations expand their local entrepreneurial ecosystem by engaging HBCU leaders, community leaders, and student entrepreneurs in a series of activities that support the growth of minority-owned businesses on college campuses in the Delta region. “This is a great opportunity for students to gain valuable tools and resources as they venture into entrepreneurship,” said William Bynum, MVSU president.
Application guidelines and selection criteria
The Initiative is accepting applications through May 30,, 2016. A full list of selection criteria for HBCUs within the 252 counties of the DRA can be found here. The DRA also provides a list of key facts supporting the continued need to “work to create an inclusive ecosystem” for minority businesses and their owners to thrive.
MVSU President’s vision
Founded in 1950—and a Carnegie Classified Master’s University—MVSU offers undergraduate and graduate-level degree programs in education, professional studies and the arts and sciences. Student success is key to President Bynum’s vision for the University.
